India continued to violate international agreements as the car of Syed Haider Shah, Pakistan's Charge d’Affaires and Acting High Commissioner in New Delhi, was repeatedly blocked by the Indian intelligence officials, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to sources, Pakistan Acting High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah was on his to his residence from office when his car was blocked and he was verbally abused by the Indian intelligence officials.
Such an act goes against diplomatic etiquette as diplomats are protected under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. The Vienna Convention gives privileges to diplomatic missions and enables diplomats to perform their functions without fear of mistreatment or harassment by the host country.
It is pertinent to mention that recently India ordered the expulsion of two Pakistani diplomats posted in New Delhi after declaring them as persona non grata for charges of indulging in espionage activities. The move was immediately condemned by Islamabad, calling it a clear violation of Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations.
These developments come on a time when India has been facing a crisis at its border with China and such a move could further escalate the situation with Pakistan as well and could increase the problems for India on a global level.
