Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) secretary general Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has said that the government is ready to hold elections as soon as its constitutional term is completed, reported the 24NewsHD TVG channel.
Talking about the present political situation of the country, he explained that the term of the current National Assembly will end in August 2023 to be followed by the formation of an interim government that will hold elections. “PDM- led government believes that caretaker government would be formed as soon as the constitutional period of the government is completed.”
He predicted that elections will be held simultaneously across the country. “The country’s general elections should be held across Pakistan at the same time.”
Taking a jibe at PTI chairman Imran Khan, he said PTI is not a political party and Imran Khan is not a politician.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said he does see the future of PTI. “Its future will be worse than PML-Q, he said adding that Chaudhry Shujaat maintained the existence of PML-Q.
Talking about the dissident PTYI leaders, the JUI leader said the fugitives of PTI will take the dirt with them wherever they go. He raised a question,” What will PTI fugitives do with us if they cannot be loyal to their party? One has to look at the pros and cons before including PTI dissident leaders, he warned.
Commenting on the former Punjab Chief Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, he said If Parvez Elahi had believed Maulana Fazlur Rehman, he would not have had to see this day. “Fazlur Rehman had convinced Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif to nominate Parvez Elahi as the Chief Minister.”
He added that If Pervaiz Elahi had followed the formula decided by PDM, he would have been the Chief Minister of Punjab till today.
Haideri said that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi made another mistake by joining PTI. “I am saddened by the manner in which Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was arrested,” he said, adding that Parvez should have been openly arrested instead of hiding from the police.
JUI senator Haideri recalled that they challenged every dictator, jailed, and flogged. We know the establishment more than PTI Chairman, he hinted.
He continued they have been fighting with the establishment since the Zia era and during the Musharraf era, seven cases of sedition were made only against him.
JUI leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor said the attacks on national and military installations are not politics, but terrorism, and PTI Chairman is responsible for May 9 mayhem.
“PTI Chairman instructed the workers on what to do on his arrest,” he disclosed, adding that the PTI leadership followed the instructions of the party chairman regarding the attacks.
“If PTI Chairman is found guilty, he should be punished.”
Maulana recalled that during the sit-ins, Imran Khan had talked about arson and civil disobedience.
