Following forecast by the weather department for rains and strong winds in the upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from today till Saturday, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday put all district administrations and concerned departments on alert, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a letter, the PDMA DG said that weak westerly currents would enter the country’s upper and central parts on Tuesday evening and would persist for the next three days.
He further said that the district administrations should keep small and large machinery ready in order to deal with any unpleasant incident.
In the advisory, the DG asked people to stay away from signboards, electric wires and crumbling structures during rains and strong winds.
He also advised the people living in hilly areas as well as the tourists to take precautionary measures in view of bad weather.
Furthermore, the DG asked the concerned departments to act swiftly and open roads for traffic in case of their closure following downpours and also provide alternate routes to motorists.
He informed that the PDMA’s emergency operation center was functional round the clock and the people should dial 1700 to report any unpleasant incident to it.
