Rain brings little relief

Rain brought relief for heat-stricken people in parts of the country including the Punjab capital on Monday, 24Newshd TV channel reported.

Various areas of Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Mananwala, Khanqah Dogran, Shahkot, Narowal, Kharian, Khariyan, Lala Musa and Gujrat.

Tripping was also reported from various parts. In Lahore, trees fell due to strong winds. Meanwhile, the district government took notice and the Lahore DC issued directives to adopt measures to cope with the situation.

Earlier reports forecast rain from June 4 to June 7. The Met Office said that a weak westerly system would enter the upper and central parts of the country on Tuesday evening or night and would persist for three days.

“Under the impact of the system, there are chances of rain accompanied by strong winds at several places in Punjab and Islamabad between June 4 and June 6,” it said, adding, “Thundershowers are also expected in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir between June 4 and June 8.” 

Likewise, the Met Office predicted, under the impact of the system rains and windstorms were also expected in Balochistan from June 5 to June 7.

Similarly, the Met Office said that rains and strong winds would also lash Larkana, Kashmore, Sukkur and Jacobabad in upper Sindh on June 6 and June 7.
