The National Assembly is likely to meet on Friday to seek a vote of confidence in PM Imran Khan.
PM Imran has decided to take a vote of confidence from the Lower House of the Parliament after his key aide Hafeez Sheikh lost an Upper House seat to PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Senate election.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told the media about the PM decision at a press conference Wednesday. Flanked by key PTI ministers Asad Umar, Shireen Mazari, Shafqat Mehmood and Fawad Chaudhry, he said the vote of confidence would show loyalties and commitment of the lawmakers.
Following the announcement, officials of the Parliamentary Affairs at an emergency meeting decided to forward a summary to President Arif Alvi under Article 54 of the Constitution.
