The Food Department has foiled a flour and wheat smuggling bid on GT Road at Chenab Toll Plaza near Wazirabad.
A total of 11 vehicles used to smuggle the commodities were confiscated at the Sadar Wazirabad police station and cases were registered against the arrested.
The flour and wheat were being smuggled from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Afghanistan when the department sprang into action, District Food Controller Sajid Qaiser said.
He reiterated the resolve to continue with better public service delivery and curb the smuggling of such essential stuff.
Illegal movement of subsidised flour and government wheat is a crime that is intolerable, he maintained.
