Coronavirus is being found in many of the stranded Pakistanis returning home through special operations, as a total of 104 passengers, who had returned from Abu Dhabi on a single flight, were tested positive for coronavirus, 24NewsHD reported Monday.

Similarly, the virus was found in 127 passengers of a flight that had arrived from Sharjah. But it doesn’t stop there as another 401 passengers landing in Karachi through 15 special flights have also been tested positive, which means the virus has been found in 505 of them.

Meanwhile, the overwhelming majority of those, who have been tested positive, returned from the Middle East. A total of 209 passengers had landed at Islamabad International Airport on April 28 through the flight from Abu Dhabi and the results show that around half of them tested positive for the virus.

All of these stranded Pakistanis were shifted to a quarantine centre established at Fatima Jinnah Women’s University in Rawalpindi. Their samples had been sent to the National Institute of Health for testing the results of which were received on Monday.

On the other hand, the list shared by the health department in Karachi shows that 127 passengers returning from Sharjah through an Air Arabia flight on April 29 were tested positive.

Other flights that brought the Pakistanis back had arrived from Dubai, Muscat, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, the officials are waiting for the results of 250 passengers who had reached Karachi from Khartoum through Flight No 786 on May 2. A total of 2,348 passengers had arrived in Karachi through these 15 flights, while those testing positive were shifted to the quarantine centres established in Expo Centre and Gaddap.
