The Sindh High Court has ordered the authorities to initiate the criminal proceedings against the builders of Makkah Terrace, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The SHC heard a case regarding the final action by the Sindh Building Control Authority against the builders of Makkah Terrace in Karachi on Thursday.
The court while rejecting the petition for a stay order by the residents of the building, ordered the SBCA to take criminal action against the builders.
Meanwhile, the SBCA team reached the Makkah Terrace along with the officials of the K-Electric. The staff of K-Electric disconnected the power connection of the building. The SBCA team kept knocking at the doors of the apartments on the first floor. The residents pleaded to them to give them at least four days’ time so that they could find some replacement. But the SBCA wanted to vacate the building today on the orders of the court.
When the SBCA team started razing some parts of the building, the residents came out of their apartments and raised slogans against them. On their resistance, the team stopped the demolition process.
A large number of police officials were also present there.
The SBCA had already given 48 hours ultimatum to the residents of the Makkah Terrace for vacating their houses.
On the order of the Sindh High Court, the authorities have also prepared a charge sheet against Makkah Terrace builder, Mr Waseem.
