Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi, a senior judge of the Sindh High Court (SHC), on Friday took oath as the second consecutive acting chief justice (CJ) of the SHC, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Nadeem Akhtar administered the oath to Abbasi at a simple ceremony held at the Judges Committee Room of the high court.
The ceremony began with recitation from the holy Quran.
A large number of people, including judges of the SHC, prosecutor general Sindh, senior lawyers and office-bearers of the bar association, attended the ceremony.
Abbasi had been appointed as the acting SHC CJ after the seat fell vacant on account of the elevation of the Justice Irfan Saadat Khan to the Supreme Court.
