Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed has denied having any knowledge of talks with Taliban insisting that Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that dialogue will be held with those Taliban who will lay down their arms, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The interior minister was talking to the media on Monday. He informed that Nadra had been tasked to arrest people who were involved in the holding of dollars. For this purpose, Eagle Mobile Squad has been launched, he added. He regretted that the Islamabad police did not have the locators.
Regarding removing flaws in the Nadra record, Rasheed said: “His ministry will clear the mess of 10 years in the national identity cards.”
He told media persons that 136 Nadra officials had been suspended on issuing fake identity cards, adding that 90 inquiries were underway and 300 Nadra officials were charge-sheeted so far.
He also revealed that his ministry was taking action against those responsible for issuing fake certificates of vaccination.
He hinted at introducing a new biometric policy.
“We will not allow the fake biometric,” Rasheed warned. He revealed that the Nadra facilities were going to be provided in Sakardu and far-off areas of Wana. The Nadra vehicles are already providing facilities on Torkham and Chaman borders.
Rasheed told the media that fee for urgent passport that could be obtained within 24 hours was raised to Rs10,000.
He further said that preachers from all over the world except India and Somalia could get entry permit. He maintained that within 2-3 weeks, the government would resolve issues related to the entry permits.
The minister stated that the government was also providing online visa facility for Afghanistan, adding that the ministry was going to abolish $8 fee, too.
Rasheed disclosed that 1000 more employees would be recruited in the police department.
He stated that a summary regarding release of prisoners on Eid Miludun Nabi had been sent to the federal cabinet for review.
