The federal cabinet has approved calling in the army in Islamabad under Article 245 of the Constitution, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
According to sources, the security of important government buildings and the Red Zone in Islamabad will be entrusted to the army.
Rangers are already deployed in Islamabad.
