Veteran Jamaat-e-Islami leader and a close associate of late Maulana Abul Ala’a Maudoodi, Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Saleemi breathed his last after a prolonged illness in Lahore on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to details, Ch Aslam Saleemi was admitted to a local hospital due to illness for many days. He breathed his last today morning.
Aslam Saleemi was affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami and also elected as Naib Amir and general-secretary of the party. He was residing at Mansoora in Lahore.
He also performed his responsibilities as interim president of Jamaat-e-Islami.
His Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered at 2 pm at Mansoora in Lahore today.
PM condoles Saleemi’s death
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday condoled the death of former Naib Amir of Jamat-e-Islami Muhammad Aslam Saleemi.
Remembering him as an intellectual and a seasoned politician, the prime minister said that with Aslam Saleemi’s death, Pakistan’s politics has become bereft of a prominent political figure.
He prayed to Allah Almighty for peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.
