Pakistan, Malaysia desire boost in defence ties

Pakistan and Malaysia have expressed the desire for bolstering the bilateral relationship with particular focus on cementing the defence ties and defence production, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim has praised Pakistan Armed Forces' role in regional peace and stability, acknowledging their professionalism and sacrifices in combating terrorism, said a press release issued by the ISPR on Friday.


During a meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir at GHQ, the Malaysian prime minister emphasized the need for increasing bilateral ties particularly military relations between the two brotherly countries and extended an invitation to the Pakistan army chief to visit Malaysia in the same context.


The army chief thanked the Malaysian prime minister for the invitation and appreciated the successful visit to Pakistan, which, he said, will help further improve the enduring and historic ties between the two countries and the militaries.


General Asim Munir had also attended the state banquet given in honour of the Malaysian prime minister at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and a ceremony relating to investment.
