Veteran Pakistani actress Fazila Qazi took to her Instagram handle and clarified her earlier statement regarding the presidential awards she had made in her appearance on Tabish Hashmi's show 'Hasna Mana Hai'.
She wrote the exact words below in her Instagram post:
"Clarification: News clippings are circulating on social media whereby I was purported to have said ‘presidential awards are based on connections’, extracted from the show Hasna Mana Hai which was aired this week.
"The tagline is misleading and not representative of what I said.
"What I actually said was ‘Individuals in the Cabinet Division fail to consider those artists who actually deserve the presidential awards.”
Fazila Qazi appeared on the show as a guest along with her husband and in response to a question asked by the host, she remarked that the authorities responsible for granting these awards often overlook hardworking artists, claiming that the awards are given based on favoritism and connections rather than merit.
She also said that she was thankful her husband received the award during a time when the recognition was based on the artist's actual work rather than influence.
She also expressed frustration over being ignored for a Presidential Award despite years of work and disclosed that files are prepared for each artist who is considered for the award, but hers has been sitting idle for five years.
