The recent floods have claimed another five lives including three children and two men in Khairpur and Jhelum respectively, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Reportedly, one child was drowned in flood water in Ranipur while two others succumbed to the gastroenteritis epidemic.
Five-year-old Kaif Ali, r/o Garhi Bridge, and another minor, r/o Pir Goth in Khairpur, died of gastro.
As many as 30 flood affectees have died of this waterborne disease in a single week. But it’s the height of apathy on the part of District Health Officer that he has not dispatched even a single team of doctors to the flood-hit areas where this disease is spreading fast.
Meanwhile, rescue officials fished out two dead bodies from the Jhelum River.
The rescuers said they saw two bodies floating on Jhelum River near Rail Bridge in Jhelum city. They said that it seemed that the men were swept away in flood water and died.
They said that the identification of the bodies was difficult as the bodies had been in water for long and were rotting.
