A truck driver was killed allegedly in firing by Pakistan Customs personnel deputed at Quetta’s hockey chowk on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The deceased truck driver was identified as Muhammad Qaseem, who belonged to Qila Abdullah.

On the other hand, giving their version of the incident, Customs personnel said that the truck was loaded with smuggled goods, which were being transported from Chaman to Quetta and these were those sitting inside it who had opened the fire first when they were asked to stop for the checking.

Spokesman for the Customs said that initially the driver sped away the truck, and when the department’s mobile squads chased it, the smugglers resorted to firing.

He elaborated that after continuously following the truck, the personnel at last succeeded in stopping it at Imdad Chowk.

However, the smugglers managed to flee from the spot.
