Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) protest in Peshawar against inflated electricity bills has proved costly for the party as police on Sunday booked several leaders of the party, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sections related to interference in official duty, damaging public properties, forcibly shutting down shops and blocking of roads were inserted in the FIR registered against JI leaders namely Baharullah, Khalid, Zahir Shah, Tahir Zarin, Haji Qadeer and others.
The party had held countrywide demonstrations against bills yesterday.
Not only workers of Jamaat, but thousands of other people also took to the streets across the country yesterday to register their protest against inflation, particularly against soaring electricity and petrol prices.
