Former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was rushed to Islamabad for medical treatment after he fell sick at Attock Jail on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources said that a caravan of federal police took Pervaiz Elahi from Attock Jail to the PIMS Hospital in Islamabad where the medical check-up of the PTI leader was conducted.

However, according to spokesperson of PIMS Hospital Aneeza, the PTI leader was brought to the hospital for a routine medical check-up.

The spokesperson said that emergency doctors ran different tests on Elahi and took his blood pressure. His health was declared satisfactory.

Aneeza denied constituting any medical board for Elahi’s medical examination.

According to sources, the PTI leader was brought to the PIMS Hospital after he complained about pain in his chest. Doctors examined him at the Cardiology Ward.

After his medical check-up, the former Punjab chief minister was taken back.

Earlier, authorities In Islamabad deployed police inside and outside the Cardiology Ward at PIMS Hospital.

On Friday, the Lahore High Court released Elahi and prohibited his arrest in connection with any First Information Report (FIR) or inquiry. But soon after he walked out of the court as a free man, the Islamabad police re-arrested him from near his house in defiance of explicit orders of the LHC.

He was arrested under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) by the federal capital police in Lahore.

This move was made at the behest of Islamabad District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon.

According to the magistrate's order, Elahi was an important leader of the PTI and there were many supporters of the party in Islamabad. He expressed the apprehension that Elahi and other PTI workers might disturb the law and order situation in Islamabad.

The order said that Elahi was being detained for 15 days on the recommendation of senior superintendent of police (SSP) of the Special Branch and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on the reports of the Divisional Intelligence Committee. Elahi had the right to challenge this order in the court, it said.

On Saturday, Elahi moved to the Islamabad High Court challenging his detention, pleading with the court to declare the magistrate’s order “patently illegal, unlawful, and without lawful authority”.

Elhi is imprisoned in the Attock Jail where PTI Chairman Imran Khan has also been incarcerated. But they are kept in separate cells.
