The powers of commissioners and deputy commissioners (DC) have been increased in the context of development schemes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Cabinet after approval, commissioners and DCs have been empowered to increase the amount sanctioned for development schemes up to Rs800 million.
In this regard, the Punjab Delegation of Financial Power Rules 2016 has been amended.
According to the notification, after 23 years, the sanction amount for DC schemes has been increased from Rs50 million to Rs100 million.
It was approved to increase the sanction amount of the schemes of the divisional commissioners from Rs200 million to Rs400 million.
Due to rising inflation, the financial bracket was increased in view of the increase in the cost of development schemes.
