Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan Tuesday met with the party lawyers to discuss the ongoing legal challenges facing the party, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Intizar Panjotha and Ali Ijaz Butar also attended the meeting and later briefed the media on the discussions.
Panjotha said the primary focus of the conversation was the application submitted to the Islamabad High Court concerning the involvement of military courts in civilian cases.
He revealed that the PTI had requested an expedited hearing, hoping the matter would be addressed the following day.
However, the Islamabad High Court raised objections to their application, which has caused considerable concern within the party.
Intizar added that the PTI founder expressed his deep apprehension about the potential implications of a former prime minister being tried in a military court.
"Nothing is more important than a former premier being taken to a military court," he stated.
Panjotha continued that the PTI founder expressed his fear of being sent to a military court, questioning the legality of subjecting the head of a popular political party to such proceedings.
“Imran Khan referred to the Supreme Court's previous ruling, which clarified the limitations of military courts in handling civilian cases, stressing that this precedent should be respected.”
They said that the meeting also covered other significant legal matters, including the Al Qadir Trust case and the issue of reserved seats within the PTI.
“The party's founder urged that a decision on these reserved seats be reached swiftly, as it has a direct impact on the party's representation and future.”
The PTI founder called for an expedited decision on the amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
