General Secretary Awami National Party (ANP) Mian Iftikhar Hussain Tuesday alleged that seeing the success of the no-confidence motion, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government tried to hold new elections through unconstitutional tactics, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that PTI rejected the constitutional process on unconstitutional measures in the assembly.
Iftikhar lambasted premier Imran Khan and alleged that the PM prepared a letter of request through his own ambassador and waved it in the air, saying it was a threat.
Iftikhar said that first Imran Khan alleged that United States sent a threat, then Imran said the ambassador wrote a letter, then it turned out that it was a diplomatic cable by his own ambassador.
Iftikhar posed questions for the premier and said if there was a threat then why the meetings were held with the ambassador of the same country the next day and why the ambassador was thanked?
Iftikhar also asked the premier the question of why was the OIC meeting convened. He also questioned the PM: Is Imran was not receiving the threats at that time?
The NSC notification did not mention anything about intimidation or a vote of the no-confidence motion, Iftikhar said.
Iftikhar lashed out at PM Imran Khan and said the premier himself is a cunning person who accuses others of conspiracy.
Due to inflation and wrong policies, people got angry with PTI and Imran Khan, said Iftikhar.
Iftikhar said attempts are being made to mislead the public with allegations of treason on the opposition and sending threats and other giving false statements.
Iftikhar said that after Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, the Prime Minister and the President also took unconstitutional steps. He alleged the Deputy Speaker, the Prime Minister and the President have committed serious violations of the Constitution.
Iftikhar said ANP demanded the Supreme Court to stop those from working, who took unconstitutional steps.
Iftikhar said that Imran Khan will have to answer all questions about the false statements and conspiracies.
Iftikhar said that ANP is hopeful that the court's ruling will be according to democracy.
Iftikhar said that ensuring democracy and the supremacy of the constitution is the duty of every institution, including the judiciary.
Iftikhar said that ANP demanded from the day first that the only solution to the problems is free and fair elections, but the party will not tolerate any violation of the constitution.
