The saas-bahu saga that once ruled Indian television is ready for a dramatic comeback. Iconic daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is reportedly being revived by producer Ekta Kapoor, nearly two decades after it first took households by storm.

Originally premiering on July 3, 2000, and running until November 6, 2008, the show etched itself into pop culture history across India—and even garnered a loyal fan base in Pakistan. Starring Smriti Irani as Tulsi and Amar Upadhyay as Mihir, the serial became synonymous with the golden era of Indian TV.

Now, Kapoor is said to be pulling out all the stops to bring the magic back. According to Indian media reports, the reboot will include familiar faces from the original cast—most notably Smriti Irani, who has since made a high-profile leap into Indian politics and currently serves as the Minister for Women and Child Development.

Sources say Irani is undergoing intensive prep to reprise her iconic role, signaling the revival isn’t just a half-hearted nostalgia grab but a serious reboot with strong backing.

Adding to the wave of throwback feels, the show’s signature theme song is being reimagined, and production is expected to return to its original location—further cementing its roots in the legacy that made it a cultural phenomenon.

While an official broadcaster announcement is still under wraps, insiders hint that the relaunch is expected to be unveiled in June 2025.

With nostalgia at an all-time high and the original dream team reportedly on board, Kyunki fans may soon find themselves back in the Virani household—where drama, tradition, and tears never go out of style.
