Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said on Saturday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would announce another good news for the nation in the next few days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, she said that a cut in electricity prices would provide much-needed relief to the masses. “A lot of hard work had to be done to slash the power tariff. Convincing the IMF for that was not a cakewalk.”
Azma claimed that the country’s economy had now been put on the right track.
She further said that while a vast majority of people welcomed a reduction in electricity prices, there were some people who were not pleased with the government’s decision at all.
Referring to the PTI, Azma said that a party, bent upon creating chaos in the country, did not want the government to announce relief for the masses.
She went on to say that leaders of a political party wrote letters to the IMF so that the country could default.
The minister said that the threat hurled by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) CM Ali Amin Gandapur to march on Islamabad was not a new one.
Dispelling the impression that there were differences between the PML-N and the PPP, she said that the latter was the former’s ally and there was no bad blood between the two parties.
She advised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to sit with the prime minister and convey his grievances to him.
