Holding PTI government responsible for inflation in the country, Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb claimed on Saturday that the country’s economy was recovering with each passing day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, she said when the coalition government had taken over in April 2022, the economy was in bad shape. “Pakistan succeeded in striking a deal with the IMF courtesy efforts made by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar,” she said.
Disagreeing with the common perception, Marriyum said in fact it was during the PTI government that inflation was at its peak. “Last time when the PML-N was in power, price hike was very much under control while the economy was progressing at the rate of 6.1 per cent,” the minister said, adding, “However, it was due to the steps taken by the PTI government that prices of different items soared.”
She further said it was under former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan that the country’s relations with the outside world soured.
Marriyum went on to say that it was former premier Nawaz Sharif who had introduced the policy on culture. “Today we are offering subsidy to the film industry,” she said, and added, “Our culture and heritage are important components of our national character.”
Enumerating the steps taken by the present government for the promotion of film industry, the minister said it had set up Certificate Board and Film Division. “We have worked for the betterment of radio and television,” she concluded.
