Covid-19 spread rate: NCOC, Punjab not on same page

Experts have raised concerns about different infection spread rates being given by the National Command and Operation Centre and the Punjab government.

According to NCOC, Lahore experienced 6.50 per cent Covid-19 spread rate while the Punjab government projected it at 10 per cent.

The second wave of the pandemic has been proving to be deadlier in Punjab and the difference in data exposes the height of ignorance on part of the two key state organs.

Reportedly, the Punjab government directed making operational intensive care units (ICUs) and high dependency units (HDUs) of three teaching hospitals and Expo Centre in Lahore.

The Center remained closed for five months as part of protective measures in the capital. The specialized healthcare and medical education department notified the directives

Also, the provincial government decided to limit the surgeries or operations in hospitals so that corona patients could be served.
