Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali turns 80

Legendary ghazal singer Ustad Ghulam Ali of the Patiala Gharana has turned 80 and celebrating his birthday on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Ghulam Ali also has a huge fan following across the border. He was a disciple of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan (elder Ghulam Ali Khan). Ghulam Ali was also trained by Bade Ghulam Ali's younger brothers – Barkat Ali Khan and Mubarak Ali Khan and learned the art of singing ghazals and writing poetry.
He was born on 5 December 1940 at the time of the British Raj. Ghulam Ali began singing in his early childhood and was a great fan of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan and Chhote Ghulam Ali Khan.
The singer composed the first ghazal to introduce classical styles into his songs. The mixture of ragas he developed was loved by listeners and showcased in a number of films.
