Faisal Zaman – an independent lawmaker in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – obtained protective bail from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) after he was accused of conspiring to carry out a murder, saying that he was being forced to join the ruling party, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the matter who stopped the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police from arresting the MPA who was elected to the provincial assembly from PK-42, Haripur III. However, Zaman was directed to ensure that he would appear before the relevant court by December 10.
In his petition, the MPA said he was a leading political figure of the area and had been elected as an independent and the case was an attempt on the part of the provincial government to make sure that he joined the PTI.
According to Zaman, the government aims at humiliating him through the arrest as the case is bogus and fabricated.
That’s why, he added, the IHC should provide him an opportunity to access the relevant court as the government has resorted to political victimisation.
