The Pakistan Television (PTV) has appointed a man head of its engineering department “in violation of an order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan”.
In a letter to PTV and Pakistan Engineering Council chairmen, the Federal Association of Government Engineers has said that Nasir Naqvi, who is heading PTV’s engineering department, is not registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
Naqvi was hired as chief of technology officer in January this year on a two-year contract against a monthly salary of Rs870,000.
According to the letter, a non-engineer was appointed head of PTV’s engineering department in violation of a 2018 judgement of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the PEC Act. As per the letter, Naqvi is not an engineer and hence he is not registered with the PEC. The letter also says that promotions of professional and registered engineers in PTV are being stopped.
