A man was killed and another two injured during a dacoity in North Nazimabad area of Karachi, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
The incident took place near a food outlet when as the victims resisted a robbery bid, according to sources in rescue. The deceased was identified as Raheem Bakhs and the injured are as Nasir Ejaz and Abdul Ahad, they added.
Reportedly, more than 18,781 citizens were deprived of their mobile phones and a total of 23,000 mobile phones were stolen this year. A total of 38,000 motorbikes was reportedly snatched from citizens.
Last month a lawmaker from the opposition lashed out at the government for its failure to establish its writ and depriving the people of sense of security. Citing the data between January and October, he said 173 four-wheelers were snatched and 1,309 others were stolen, while 18,781 mobile phones were snatched and 154 incidents of extortion were reported.
The legislator said that 1,700 cars were stolen in Karachi, 35,000 motorbikes were snatched and 46,500 mobile phones were also reported to have been snatched.
