The Punjab government transferred Rs1 billion worth of funds meant for dealing with natural disasters to the construction projects in Gujrat and other districts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
As per the official sources, the funds were transferred to health projects in Gujrat, Kasur and Bahawalpur districts.
The funds had been released last financial year for natural disaster control programme.
According to Punjab Finance Department, the budget lapsed for not being used within the stipulated period of time.
“Therefore, the chief minister ordered the transfer of funds to the construction projects. The funds are being spent on the health projects only,” it stated.
