52nd Shahadat anniversary of Major Akram is being observed today (Tuesday) to pay homage to his great sacrifice for the motherland, , reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Nishan-e-Haider holder Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed embraced martyrdom on December 5, 1971, in the epic battle of Hilli in East Pakistan.
He stood like a rock in the face of the advancing Indian Army, which was supported by the Indian Air Force, heavy artillery, and armour and yet succeeded in thwarting the enemy’s every attempt to advance.
So great was his determination and grit to defend the motherland that despite his martyrdom, his Company continued to hold its position.
Inspired by Akram’s valour, Armed Forces of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee & Services Chiefs pay glowing tribute to him on his 52nd Shahadat Anniversary on Tuesday.
Displaying valour against all odds, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed heroically repulsed innumerable attacks by enemy inflicting heavy losses in the battle of Hilli during 1971 War.
This epic resistance demonstrated by Major Akram did not allow the Indian army to capture even an inch of the motherland till he embraced Shahadat. Such exemplary courage is the hallmark of defenders of our motherland.
Major Muhammad Akram’s martyrdom anniversary serves as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of Pakistan to defend the motherland.
Let us remember these heroes who have laid down their lives in defence of our motherland. The nation is proud of its gallant sons.
