Moonis Elahi, Pakistan Muslim League (PML) central leader and MNA, has said the first meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan was good. “We talked openly and whatever the PM said was clear. After all these happenings, I think things will get right,” he said.

Responding to questions from the media, Moonis said, “This is absolutely wrong that we want to topple the Buzdar government. However, some people want to fail Imran Khan. It was our agreement with the PTI that our ministers would be fully empowered, they would be able to do transfers and postings and there would be no interference in our ministries. Matters about three districts were also settled.”

Referring to PML leadership’s meeting with Federal Minister Shafqat Mehmood, Moonis said Mahmood had assured his party that decisions taken by the first committee would be implemented. He said that work on what was decided at the meeting with the first committee had started, work on transfers and postings was also under way, but the issue of release of development funds has yet to be sorted out.

He said that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi is not the candidate for Punjab chief minister’s office. “We want this alliance to work and it is our desire that we should contest the next election together,” he said.

In response to a question about his meeting with the prime minister, Moonis said: “I informed the PM about my party’s apprehensions and assured him that we are with the government and want all matters sorted out amicably.” About the new negotiations team, he said it was unfair to set up another committee when a committee was already working on an issue.
