A 47-year-old man Thursday in Ecuador legally changed his gender to gain custody of his daughters.
According to the details, Ecuadorian law always favours the mother and hands the children’s custody to her. René Salinas Ramos attempted to get his gender legally changed to rightfully and legally get the custody of her two daughters.
Ramos, while talking to the media outside the Civil Registry Office said that “The laws say that the one who has the right is the woman. As of this moment, I am female. Now I’m also a mom, that’s how I consider myself. “I am very sure of my sexuality. What I have sought is that I want to be a mother, so that I can also give the love and protection of a mother.”
Salinas Ramos stated that his daughters live in an abusive environment with their mother and he hasn’t been able to see his children in over five months.
A father turning into a mother literally is a very huge step and shows the immense love and sense of protection he offers to his children. On the other hand, this step of Ramos is being criticized by the concerned LGBTQ activists who fought to have Ecuadorian laws changed in 2015 to allow the change of gender. The activists criticizing him said that “This man’s private matter, to obtain custody of his daughters, isn’t the spirit of the law.”
