A weather report issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Thursday warned of heavy fog and cold weather conditions in various parts of the country on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the report, Islamabad and its adjacent areas are likely to experience heavy fog along with cold weather, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will face cold weather in most of the districts and severe cold and partly cloudy in the upper districts. The report also predicted light rain in Chitral, Kohistan and Malakand and the possibility of light snowfall in the mountains. Heavy fog is also expected in Charsadda, Rishkai, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Peshawar, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, DI Khan and surrounding areas during the morning and night hours.
In Punjab, the weather will be cold in most of the districts, while it will be cloudy in the upper districts including Murree and Galliat. The PMD report said that Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Mangla, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahimyar. Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and adjacent areas are likely to experience heavy fog/smog.
The weather will remain cloudy in most districts of Balochistan, with rain expected in the coastal areas of Kech, Awaran and Makran and snowfall on the mountains. The report said that Chagai, Quetta, Chaman, Ziarat, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Pashin, Mastung, Kalat, Kharan, Harnai, Sibi, Nushki, Khuzdar, Lasbila, Turbat and Panjgur will also witness cold weather.
In Sindh, the weather will remain cold and dry in most of the districts. Heavy fog/smog is likely to prevail in Jacobabad, Mohenjodaro, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Ghotki, Khairpur and Pad Eidan during morning and night hours. The report also said that light rain/drizzle may occur in Karachi and surrounding areas apart from partly cloudy.
The weather will remain very cold and partly cloudy in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The PMD report advised people to take precautionary measures against the fog and cold weather and to avoid unnecessary travel.
