The number of recovered coronavirus cases has soared in Pakistan as the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday reported 3,191 new Covid-19 infections throughout the country during the last 24 hours (Saturday).
Out of 228,474 coronavirus cases, 129,830 people have been recovered so far across Pakistan.
The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan increased by 3,191 during the past 24 hours taking the total to 228,474. The country also recorded 93 more people dying of the virus, raising the death toll to 4,712. The number of patients being treated at different hospitals in the country is 5,130 out of whom 2,460 are currently in a critical condition and admitted in the intensive care units.
The latest figures came as the NCOC on Saturday completed 100 days of its establishment which represented national resolve and resilience as well as service and humility.
As of now, the number of people recovering from the infection – 129,830 – is greater than the active cases – 93,932.
Meanwhile, the authorities are conducting more tests across the country and the overall number has now reached 13,98,352 since the coronavirus outbreak. As many as 25,527 tests were conducted during the past 24 hours. Out of 1,525 ventilators allocated for Covid-19 treatment, only 467 are occupied across the country with no patient on a ventilator in Gilgit Baltistan.
Sindh continued to be the most affected province of the country with the number of cases reported being currently at 92,306. It is followed by 81,317 cases in Punjab, 27,843 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13,409 in Islamabad, 10,776 in Balochistan, 1,545 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,288 in Azad Kashmir.
On the other hand, Punjab tops the list when it comes to deaths with 1,871 people dying of the coronavirus. The figures for other provinces/regions are: Sindh 1,501, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,020, Islamabad 134, Balochistan 134, Azad Kashmir 35 and Gilgit-Baltistan 28.
To pay tribute to frontline heroes, the national leadership visited various health facilities across Pakistan on Saturday to acknowledge the ongoing untiring efforts of the healthcare professionals.
On its 100 days of ongoing efforts, the NCOC paid tributes to the people of Pakistan who showed great resilience and health-seeking behaviour to fight the pandemic as well as emergency responders, law enforcement agencies and all those who shared this journey towards a healthy Pakistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also visited the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) in Islamabad on the 100th day of its establishment, lauded its role in containing the spread of the novel coronavirus and directed it to take steps to prevent the resurgence of the disease during Eidul Azha.
Besides federal ministers and Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, high-ranking officers were present during the PM’s visit, while representatives of the provinces were available via video link.
