In order to bring Islamabad at par with the capital cities of other countries of the world, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi announced some important decisions on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Chairing a meeting at the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) building, the minister said that now it had been made mandatory for the Authority to only purchase electric bikes so that environmental pollution could be controlled.

Similarly, he announced that now electric buses would ply on the city’s roads.

As per another decision taken by Naqvi, residents of the federal capital would be provided emergency services of the international standards.

Naqvi said that now the MCIC, and not the CDA, would provide these services.

Likewise, a department named Capital WASA will be established, while the matters concerning the establishment of Capital Waste Management Company will also be finalized.

The minister informed the meeting that work on the Serena Chowk underpass and F-9 Park Chowk flyover would soon get underway. “Similarly, work on the expressway project will be accelerated so that it could be completed at the earliest,” he said.

He said that work on Islamabad’s Model Jail, which had been awaiting completion for the last 17 years, was going on at a fast pace, and the first phase of the project would be completed before the expiry of the deadline.

The minister said that business facilitation centers will be built in the capital city where investors will be provided facilities under one roof. “Land has been allotted for the construction of a health tower in sector F-16,” he informed.

He congratulated the CDA chairman and members of his team for ensuring record tax collection.

Naqvi said that no department could be run merely through the sale of plots and there was a need to increase the department’s assets.

He directed the concerned officials to draw up the investment plan and submit to him in seven days.
