June 5, 2020 12:47 AM

Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting to deliberate upon the upcoming budget. Finance aide Dr Abdul Hafeez presented the outlay of budgetary priorities. He also shed light on reforms in the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR).

Speaking on the occasion, Imran Khan laid stress on industrial promotion. He said the government is creating an environment conducive to business. He called for limiting unnecessary expenditures so that the poor and the need could be provided with some relief.

The PM insisted on promoting private-public partnership. All the stakeholders would be taken on board while making policies.

Last week, the finance adviser said the government's performance has improved and deficits narrowed.

"Foreign direct investment also increased and revenue collection improved," he noted.

He also informed the meeting about the relief given to the industries and the business community. He briefed PM Imran on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, as well as on the government's priorities during the current situation and economic recovery of Pakistan.
