Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah Saturday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, blaming the federal government for its biasness towards Sindh since it had come into power, reported 24News HD TV channel.

The letter reads, “Ever since the current federal government has come into power it has been treating the province of Sindh with abject bias.”

In his letter, Murad Ali Shah complained that the federal government ignored projects for Sindh in the public sector development program, saying that it was an injustice with the people of Sindh.

He also said that Article 156 of the Constitution was being violated by not convening a meeting of the National Economic Council as per its scheduled meetings.

The CM said that despite four years having passed, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has not completed the construction of Sehwan-Jamshoro Highway, adding that the federal government was responsible for the loss of human lives due to its non-completion.

The letter reads, “The Sehwan-Jamshoro Road costing a total of Rs14 billion of which 50% has been provided by the Sindh Government back in April 2017. The road is less than 50% complete in more than 4 years of execution. The non-completion of this road has resulted in several deaths in road accidents and 1 hold the Federal Government responsible for this.” It further reads, “It is astonishing that the Lahore to Sukkur section of this project has been undertaken through assured funds under PSDP and the Sukkur to Hyderabad section is the only section which has not been started to date and is proposed under the Public-Private Partnership mode.”

The letter said that Punjab was given projects worth Rs86,605 million while Sindh only received Rs4,808 million. The Sindh government has also demanded a review of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) from the federal government for the next financial year.

The CM urged the PM to look into the matter of unevenness between the province regarding development projects.

“Prime Minister, I strongly urge you to reconsider this lopsided Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) and abide by the Constitutional requirement of “balanced development and regional equity”. The PSDP in its current form is highly detrimental to the interests of the people of Sindh. Sir, you have to treat Sindh as a federations unit and ensure it is not deprived of its due share.”
