Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday advised JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to dissociate himself from politics and better solemnize people’s nikahs (marriages) only since politics was not his cup of tea, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to newsmen in Lahore, Fawad announced that the parties allied to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government had assured it of their support for the upcoming national budget.
He said that the budget would be reflective of the PTI government’s performance.
The federal minister claimed that PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) group was still with the government since like other members of the party, members of the group believed in Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision. “PTI members flock to Tareen’s dinners because they have personal connections with him,” he argued.
He said it was the government’s desire that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an opposition parties’ alliance, flourished and blossomed. “But what can we do when the opposition is itself split?” he remarked.
Fawad was of the opinion that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) could not clear its stance so long as party President Shehbaz Sharif and Vice President Maryam Nawaz were engaged in the tussle for power.
The minister asked both PML-N and PPP to suggest electoral reforms, adding if they did so the government would look into these. “We are going to the Election Commission of Pakistan where we will take up the subject of electoral reforms,” he added.
Fawad said it was because of the policies of the previous governments of PPP, PML-N that Pakistan was in hot waters.
