Astronomers have forecasted that the crescent moon for the holy month of Dhul Hijjah is likely to be sighted on Friday, June 7. As a result, Eid al-Adha is expected to fall on Monday, June 17.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, astronomer Javed Iqbal predicted that the moon will be visible on June 7, which corresponds to the 29th of Dhul Hijjah.
He said sunset on that day will be at 7:20 PM and the moon will be 26 hours and 45 minutes old.
He added the moon should be clearly visible about 15 minutes after sunset with a visibility window of 40 to 50 minutes.
He said the moonset is expected at 8:31 PM.
For the moon to be sighted, it needs to be at least 19 hours old.
