PM Imran to visit Saudi Arabia from May 7

Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on May 7 (Friday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.

The Prime Minister will be heading to Saudi Arabia on a two-day visit on May 7 as the schedule of his visit has been finalized. He will meet Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman (MBS).

Imran Khan is also expected to perform Umrah during his visit. A high-level delegation will accompany the premier. The prime minister will extend an invitation to the Saudi king to visit Pakistan.

Reports said several Pakistani inmates will be released from prisons in Saudi Arabia during Imran Khan’s visit to the Kingdom.

Special Representative of the Prime Minister for Interfaith Harmony Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi speaking to the media at the airport before his departure to Saudi Arabia said PM Imran Khan will leave for an official visit to Saudi Arabia on May 7.

The PM aide said various agreements will be signed including Pakistan-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council, Green Pakistan-Green Saudi Arabia-Green Middle East.

“Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman invited the PM to visit Saudi Arabia. Imran Khan will meet the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General, Imams of the Holy Mosques, religious and political leadership of Saudi Arabia and Pakistani diaspora in the kingdom,” Ahsrafi said.

He said the vision of the incumbent government is clear which is to increase cooperation in trade, economy, tourism and culture and religious affairs instead of aid and loans.

Tahir Ashrafi said Saudi Arabia has the leadership of the OIC at the moment and Pakistan is ready for any possible cooperation to make the OIC stronger and more effective platform.

“Pakistan has never supported the formation of any alternative forum to the OIC,” he said.

Ashrafi said there is no compromise on the Defence and safety of the two Holy mosques and Pakistan has always condemned the Houthi attacks on the kingdom.
