Pakistan cricket skipper Babar Azam has found himself in the spotlight amid surprising reports that he recently spent a considerable sum of seven lakh Indian rupees on a designer sherwani for his upcoming marriage.

This development has raised eyebrows within the cricketing world as it's unusual for a team captain to engage in wedding shopping during a major tournament.

What has drawn particular attention is the timing of this extravagant purchase, which coincided with Pakistan's participation in a major international cricket tournament.

Pakistan, the World Champions in 1992, arrived in Kolkata just five days ago before their match against Bangladesh which they won.

Babar Azam's wedding is scheduled for the end of this year and his extravagant purchase has caught the attention of fans and critics alike, according to foreign media.

It's been reported that the Pakistani skipper bought the designer sherwani from the renowned Indian designer boutique, Sabyasachi, known for its exquisite bridal and groom wear. Additionally, he reportedly purchased a significant amount of jewellery from a renowned jewellry maker.

On the other hand, the liaison officer of the Pakistani cricket team denied all these reports and termed them false and said that there is no truth in these reports.

It should be noted that a few months ago, there were reports that Babar will tie the knot with his cousin in November after the World Cup, but later the cricketer's father and manager denied the news.
