Brain-eater Naegleria claims another life in Karachi raising total to 11

Naegleria deaths in Sindh reported to be on the rise as the death of a 45-year-old man added up the number taking it up to 11 in Karachi, the 24NewsHDTV channel reported on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as 45-year-old Kashif Qamar was admitted in a private hospital on November 1. In the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test reports, Naegleria turned out to be positive.

Kashif suffered from headache and high fever for three days before passing.

It was stated that Kashif’s was the third death in the region due to Naegleria.

As of yet, Naegleria has claimed one life each in Jamshoro, Kemari, Korangi, Malir, West and East while two deaths have been reported in South.
