A meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) was held on Monday with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in the chair.
At the meeting, a summary was approved for a technical grant for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Information Ministry’s Rs950 million summary of expenses on the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting came under discussion at the meeting.
On this occasion, the ECC told the Information Ministry to release funds from its allocated quota. In case of shortage of funds at the end of the year, the ministry will be given a technical supplementary grant.
A discussion was held on a Rs530 million summary for various digital initiatives. The ECC directed the Information Ministry to allocate funds for this purpose from its own budget.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Industry and Production presented its summary on a decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) regarding import of sugar for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was said during the briefing that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s annual consumption of sugar is less than 900,000 metric tons and there is no possibility of a sugar shortage in the province.
The ECC approved a summary submitted by the Ministry of Housing and Works, surrendering Rs151 million for Supreme Court repairs. The ECC also approved a petroleum products sale purchase agreement between the Pakistan State Oil and Socar Petroleum of Azerbaijan.
The ECC also approved the circular debt management plan of the Power Division for the current fiscal year.
The ECC considered a Rs650 million summary of the Interior Ministry for repair of the cameras damaged during the protests before the SCO summit in Islamabad. The ECC directed the Information Ministry to release these funds from ministry’s allocated budget.
