The Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted a test launch of an indigenously developed ballistic missile from a warship, showcasing the military’s advancements in precision technology, said a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The missile system, with a range of 350 kilometres, is capable of hitting both land and sea targets with high accuracy and features an advanced navigation system that allows adjustments to its direction and speed mid-flight.
The demonstration was witnessed by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, senior naval officers, and a team of scientists and engineers involved in the missile's development. Following the successful test, Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and other military leaders extended congratulations to the units and scientists for their role in the missile’s successful launch.
Earlier, in July, the Pakistan Navy’s ground-based air defense (GBAD) showcased its combat readiness with a live firing of FN-6 surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) in Karachi. During the event, the GBAD system effectively engaged and neutralized designated airborne targets. Commander Coast Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz attended as the chief guest and commended the troops’ operational readiness.
Apart from strengthening national defense, the Pakistan Navy is actively contributing to regional security efforts. In May, it deployed the warship PNS ASLAT in the Indian Ocean to ensure the protection of merchant vessels, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining stability in the region’s maritime routes.
