Sindh Assembly adopts resolution for formation of constitutional benches in SHC

The Sindh Assembly (SA) on Monday passed a resolution, calling for the formation of constitutional benches in the Sindh High Court (SHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


As many as 123 members of the provincial assembly (MPAs), belonging to the PPP and MQM-P, raised their hands in the favour of the resolution while four MPAs, belonging to the PTI and the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), opposed it.  


Deputy Speaker Naveed Anthony presided over the SA session.


Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed the hope that the passage of the resolution would help in the implementation of the 26th constitutional amendment in the province.


The provincial home minister told the assembly that street crimes in Karachi had dropped by 26 per cent.   


Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that the crackdown on drug peddlers in all parts of the port city, including Lyari, would go ahead.
