Islamabad Police have arrested as many as 20 protesting doctors who allegedly entered the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) building in G-10 Sector on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Police used lathi-charge and tear-gas against the protesting doctors. ICT Police have also brought water canon to counter the protesters. It is reported that young doctors also hurled stones at the PMC building.
Young Doctors Association has been protesting for over a week now, demanding the federal government to take back National Licensing Examination (NLE).
A social media account associated with the doctors said, “Please call ambulances to reach PMC Head Office Islamabad as soon as possible. Many doctors got injured.”
Pertinent to note that medical students on Tuesday also filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) and seeking apex court’s suo moto notice of the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).
