Assailants attack cops deployed outside Insaf House in Karachi

Unknown assailants Wednesday attacked police personnel deployed for security outside Insaf House, the headquarters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to police, the number of assailants who attacked the police personnel was between 20 and 25. The accused also ripped off the policemen’s uniforms.

Not only did they try to snatch weapons from the policemen, but they also pelted the cops with stones and damaged their patrol vehicles.

“The accused were shouting ‘Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Zindabad’ slogans,” police said.

The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Tipu Sultan police station, and a case has been registered against the accused on the complaint of Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Shimoon Daniyal.

The case was registered under sections of rioting, assault on police personnel and violence.

“About 20 to 25 people, riding motorcycles and armed with sticks and firearms, came outside Insaf House and raised slogans demanding the release of the PTI chairman,” the text of the FIR reads.

“The accused tortured a police official named Adil Rehman, ripped his uniform off and fled on motorcycles upon the arrival of an additional police force,” it adds.

“A 30-bore pistol and four rounds were found during the search and raids are being conducted for the arrest of the accused,” it states.
