Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Mohsin Hasan Butt presided over a meeting at the agency headquarters.
Additional director generals, zonal directors and other officials concerned attended the meeting that was briefed about the ongoing crackdown on illegal money exchange and smuggling across the country.
During this year, 390 raids were conducted, 382 cases were registered and 557 accused were arrested, the huddle was told.
It was stated that an investigation of 51 inquiries was also completed.
As per the briefing on arrests made by the agency zone, 250 arrests were made in KP, 68 in Lahore, 24 in Gujranwala, 48 in Faisalabad, 43 in Multan, 20 in Islamabad, 64 in Karachi and 23 in Hyderabad while 17 were arrested in Balochistan.
The assistance of law enforcement agencies was also obtained for nailing the accused. More than Rs3 billion currency was also seized, the meeting was briefed.
The FIA DG issued directives to intensify the operation the cases under investigation should be completed at the earliest.
All resources should be used and special measures should also be taken regarding increasing the efficiency of the officers.
