Finance minister-led team to attend World Bank, IMF annual meetings

The economic team, headed by Caretaker Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar, will participate in the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to the finance ministry sources, the finance secretary and the State Bank governor will accompany the finance minister.

The economic team will reach Morocco on Sunday to attend the World Bank and the IMF annual meetings.

Meetings of the economic team with the IMF managing director, the World Bank president, and the Asian Development Bank authorities have been scheduled.

The caretaker finance minister, along with the economic team, will discuss the sale of bonds in the international market.

Meetings of the economic team with the Chinese finance minister, Saudi finance minister, and Moody’s officials have also been scheduled.

In the sideline meetings, there will be talks on the loan programme with the IMG managing director.

It is to be noted here that the annual meetings of the World Bank and the IMF are starting from October 9.
